The Gift of Small - Epworth by the Sea
February 29 - March 3, 2024
The South Atlantic and Puerto Rico Region of PAM (SAPR) is excited to announce that they will be in partnership with the Association of Smaller Churches (ASC) for their 2024 conference.
The Gift of Small promotes smaller congregations and highlights their unique beauty and immense potential. Despite their size, these close-knit communities can nurture deep relationships and create a profound sense of belonging. In a world that claims that “bigger is always better,” smaller congregations know that passion and love define faith, not size. Smaller congregations can cultivate unity, and shared purpose, and become beacons of hope. Join us at Epworth by the Sea to celebrate, “The Gift of Small,” as we explore the powerful impact smaller congregations can and do have on the lives of individuals and communities.
SAPR will be providing several special offerings at the conference. Our own Luke Browder (Director of Music at John Knox Presbyterian in Greenville, South Carolina) will serve as the Conference Musician, as well as lead a workshop on “Intentionality in Worship Planning”. Mandy Keathley (Director of Music at Central Presbyterian in Anderson, South Carolina) will be leading a workshop on “Practical Resources for Handbells and Handchimes in the Small Church”. Kevin Simons (Editor for St. James Music Press and Director of Music and organist at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Saginaw, Michigan) will be leading a session on copyright issues, as well as a reading session from the catalog of St. James Music Press.
All of the PAM offerings at this conference will be focused on giving you hands-on resources that you can take home to your congregations.
The Conference will be held at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island from Thursday, February 29 through Sunday, March 3, 2024. Registration is now open, and we hope that you will join us for four days of music and learning by the sea!
A Conversation with the Outgoing and Incoming Editors of the Call to Worship Journal
The kickoff regional event for the new South Atlantic and Puerto Rico Region will be a conversation with Kim Long and Sally Ann McKinsey. They will be in conversation with us about our incredible PC(USA) lectionary resource, the Call to Worship Journal. They will give information about the Lectionary Aids, as well as the additional thematic issues, which are published throughout the year.
Rev. Dr. Kimberly Bracken Long is the outgoing editor of Call to Worship, and Rev. Sally Ann McKinsey is the incoming editor.
The South Atlantic and Puerto Rico Region launched in February of 2022. If you are interested in serving on the leadership team of the region, contact Kelly Abraham.
