Elevate Vocal Arts Workshop & Performance

February 15 - 16, 2025

​Honoring Black History Month with a vibrant celebration of culture and artistry, PAM's East Region, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Elevate Vocal Arts hosted an immersive day-long choral workshop, culminating in a powerful performance. Under the expert guidance of CEO and Artistic Director Arreon Harley-Emerson, participants dove into engaging rehearsals and thought-provoking discussions on significant topics, culminating with a closing concert.

Great Lakes Region Black History Month Webinar Series

January 23 & January 30, 2025

​Join the Presbyterian Association of Musicians' Great Lakes Region for a special two-part webinar series in honor of Black History Month. This series will equip congregational leaders with tools and resources to enhance worship programming during this important time of reflection and celebration.​ On January 23, 2025, David Gambrell and Phillip Morgan will explore resources from Glory to God that align with the themes of Black History Month, providing practical ways to enrich your worship services. The following week, on January 30, Margaret Aymer will present "Black History Month in the Worshiping Community," offering insight into how the worshiping community can engage meaningfully with the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans. This series is designed to help congregations deepen their connection to Black History Month through thoughtful and inclusive worship planning.​​

​"Singing Our Faith Through Hymns and Anthems" will provide a community opportunity for singers and people of all ages to gather, learn, and sing favorite anthems and hymns framed with poetry by Susan Palo Cherwien. Coming from various backgrounds, singers will join together, learn songs, share social time, and work towards expressing their faith with the community.

Arranging Music for Instruments in Worship: A Practical Introduction​​

Creating simple instrumental solo arrangements for worship that can be accompanied directly from any hymnbook. Walk through a process that produces an “almost” instant arrangement—even for those “last minute” situations.  A similar procedure resulting in an instrumental duet will also be discussed. Considerations for adding an instrumental part to an existing choral arrangement will conclude the session. Attendees will leave with the ideas and arrangements developed in this session. With My Whole Heart: Singing Together as One

September 2022

 

This special event for everyone - church musicians, choir members, church leaders, congregation members—anyone who can “make a joyful noise to the Lord" took place in September.

 

Taught by the Rev’d John Allen Bankson, Director of Music Ministries at the First Christian Church of Birmingham, each week’s class featured a guest organist from the Birmingham area. This was a joint event of the First Christian Church of Birmingham and the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Mid-South Region.

 

This exciting six-week journey culminated with a Hymn Festival led by the Rev. David Gambrell, Associate for Worship in the Office of Theology and Worship of the Presbyterian Church (USA).​

A Conversation with the Outgoing and Incoming Editors of the Call to Worship Journal​

​The kickoff regional event for the new South Atlantic and Puerto Rico Region will be a conversation with Kim Long and Sally Ann McKinsey. They will be in conversation with us about our incredible PC(USA) lectionary resource, the Call to Worship Journal. They will give information about the Lectionary Aids, as well as the additional thematic issues, which are published throughout the year. â€‹Rev. Dr. Kimberly Bracken Long is the outgoing editor of Call to Worship, and Rev. Sally Ann McKinsey is the incoming editor.
