1001 New Worshiping Communities
1001 New Worshiping Communities, a movement of the Presbyterian Church (USA), has developed a system of resources and a network of relationships to help you prepare for the journey of exploring God’s work in the world, calling new disciples, and forming communities of worship and witness.
These tools will help you chart your path, identify ways to engage new traveling companions, and establish practices that lead to flourishing communities. Our team will help you build an ecosystem of varied and vital expressions of the church equipped to share the Good News of the Gospel right where you are and wherever the Spirit leads.
What is a New Worshiping Community?
In short, it is a gathering of women and men, young and old who are:
✓ Seeking to make and form new disciples of Jesus Christ
✓ Taking on varied forms of church for our changing culture
✓ Gathered by the Spirit to meet Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament
✓ Sent by the Spirit to join God’s mission for the transformation of the world
✓ Practicing mutual care and accountability
✓ Developing sustainability in leadership and finances
Responding to Christ’s gift and call, we do all these things only by God’s grace,
seeking—above all else—to glorify God through Jesus Christ in the power of
the Holy Spirit.
