Congregation's Expectations: We are seeking an experienced, motivated Director of Music Ministry to develop, direct, and implement music programs that contribute to the ministry and growth of our church, a suburban congregation with a tradition of music excellence. The successful candidate will possess proven leadership skills, be an accomplished choir director and organist/pianist, and will work under the direction of our Senior Minister. Responsibilities include:
-- Direct and lead the adult chancel choir weekly in one 10:30am Sunday service, with one weekly rehearsal.
-- Perform on the 1965 Austin pipe organ, extensively renovated in 2008.
-- Provide music for all services, weddings and funerals of the church. Present seasonal concerts and recitals.
-- Plan all services at weekly meetings and develop new programs to attract new members working closely with Senior and Assistant Ministers.
-- Coordinate the activities of the Directors of the Youth and Handbell Choirs.
Community Congregational Church (UCC), located in Short Hills, NJ just 20 miles west of NYC, is a welcoming family of faith with a regular attendance of 150. Our congregation strongly values our program of music, ranging in style from traditional church classical music through contemporary, planned and performed at a very high-level.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
