Congregation's Expectations: We
are a strong, historic congregation established in 1849. From the earliest
days, the church has featured a formal litergy with excellence in music
as an integral part of our identity and tradition. Our instruments (including
four organs), adult and children's choirs, extensive programming and commissioning
activity rank amoung the foremost in major U.S. churches. We desire a music
director who will be excited about this unique opportunity to expand upon
our rich musical heritage. Both creative vision and a commitment to enhance
the spiritual experience of worship through music are required. The leading
candidate will have substantial church experience and will be a nationally
recognized organist. Expertise with traditional, classical and contemporary
sacred music of quality is required.
Additional Comments: Organizational
and management skills are required to lead the music staff. Strong
human relations and communications skills are a must. This position
reports to Dr. David VanDyke, pastor and head of staff. A half-time
choirmaster also will be hired during 2008 in consultation with our
