Congregation's Expectations: The Director of Music will have overall responsibility for the music ministry of WCCPC. The major duties include collaborating with the Pastors to create Christ-centered worship that enables and inspires people to draw nearer to God, recruiting and developing participants in the Music Ministry, and the development of a strong team of lay leaders able to lead individual music ministries. The music director will provide oversight and guidance to this team. Additional responsibilities include developing and directing the choir in the traditional worship service; providing leadership to the Praise Team in the contemporary worship service; and providing for music in special and seasonal services, including but not limited to the Christmas and Easter Cantata.
Additional Comments: The requirements of the position are a person with a mature Christian faith, who desires an active role in a vibrant local church, and who has a BA degree in Music, or equivalent. Preference for candidates with experience in leadership of music in a church setting; and with experience leading musical groups involving different styles of music, and/or candidates involved in music programs with a substantial element of teaching. Competence in building and nurturing teamwork, organizational skills, and strong interpersonal skills are required.
